Maplewood Reassessment Near Completion
MAPLEWOOD, NJ - The Essex County Board of Taxation and the New Jersey Division of Taxation have ordered the Township of Maplewood to perform a reassessment program to be implemented for tax year 2017. The program will ensure that assessments are conducted uniformly and equitably. Maplewood has contracted with Appraisal Systems, Inc. to assist with the reassessment process. According to Appraisal Systems, Inc., the 2017 assessed value of 7274 units around the township is $3.8 billion. The average property value is $499,700. The company indicated that the new property values for 2017 were determined based on their estimated market value as of October 1, 2016, the statutory date required by law. The company also advised that assessment lists would be posted after value letters are mailed. Residents were asked to arrange a one-on-one meeting with company representatives to discuss the proposed 2017 assessment.
